I was in downtown LA over the weekend and stayed in a hotel near Staples Center. News vans have been there since Friday and paid up to $25,000 per parking
space to be across the street from Staples Center. The people who work at LA Live and ESPN are dreading Tuesday and the street closures, etc. The Grammy Museum
is all about MJ now as well.

Best part of the whole thing, ringling brothers is the next act up at the center, and today they loaded in the animals at the site. Every circus needs animals.

Well I have a migraine from crying today. That was very emotional, and I am still pretty shocked that he is gone. I hope he is at peace now.
The thing that pissed me off is Fox reported that they were giving away tickets down there because some people did not pick theirs up. I knew there would be people registering just for the hell of it who would not go. I would have loved to have gone, if I had been drawn I would have been on a plane yesterday morning. |

Jackie, thank you for reminding us that this isn't just something to make fun of, that many people who never met the guy mourn him. I hope you are feeling
better. =hugs=

I never thought this would affect me this way. I loved, LOVED him when I was a child, and this is as if a huge part of my childhood has died. If someone would
have told me 2 weeks ago this is how I would react, I would have never believed it. I would have thought I'd say "oh, that's too bad" but
it's so much more than that. I know this sounds silly but I also felt some guilt for kind of "abandoning" him as I got older. Watching a bunch of
videos on YouTube this week reminded me that he was a human being (though a damaged one) who tried to do a lot of good. I think it's a damn shame if he did
die from these stupid drugs that he should never have even had access to. I don't know. I'm sure people will think I am an idiot for being so upset,
but so be it. I can be sometimes.

Jackie, I think your reaction is very human. I've been suprised at my reaction to the passing of icons before. Maybe it's because we're reminded of
our own mortality and the swift passage of time.

There are tons of programs and tickets for sale on ebay going for ridiculous prices. Some not used. I imagine there are many that registered hoping to
receive tickets with no intentions other than selling them for the highest price.
That, I find, is disgusting. |

It was a wonderful send off for his work and legacy. His daughter brought tears to my eyes, as well as some of the songs.

MJ's brain was missing from coffin
London (ANI): Michael Jackson's brain was not there when his body lay in the golden casket at his memorial service, it has been confirmed. The late King of Pop's brain has been kept for toxicology tests by experts who want to find out the singer's fatal heart attack was caused by painkillers. "As soon as we are done with the brain, we'll return it. The last I heard, they are not burying the body yet," the Sun quoted assistant chief coroner Ed Winter as saying. The 'Thriller' hitmaker's death certificate signed by sister La Toya lists the cause of death as deferred. Recently, Los Angeles Coroner's spokesman Craig Harvey said that neuropathology tests are going to be conducted to see if the brain holds any clues to the exact cause of Jackson's death. However, the examination cannot start until at least two weeks after the death when the brain has hardened sufficiently to slice it open. Sources at the coroner's office revealed that his brain was removed before his body was released to relatives the next day. http://entertainment.oneindia.in/music/international/2009/mjs-brain-missing-coffin-090709.html |

I was talking about people who signed up just to sign up, with no intentions of going, I know there were people who did that. I heard another nice story about a girl who put a want ad on CL and someone who won tickets in Ohio gave them to her and her mother, so I'm glad there were people who were doing nice things with them. That's great. But if they were really handing out tickets there, there were obviously people who just didn't bother to show up or give them to someone who wanted to go. Amazingly I saw people trying to sell the denial email that was sent out by the Staples Center on Ebay. Who the hell would buy that, anyway? |
