The danger in a popular vote is that the top 5 or 6 states in terms of population could very well decide who is president and the other 45 states would have no
say.

According to this great site that updates all of the latest state polls, Obama has enough votes to take the
electoral college as of today. Obviously this is 5 months out and some of those are razor thin margins, but I've got to believe that his support within
the Dem party will solidify some now that he is the nominee. Even if he doesn't get all of the Hillary voters back, he's gonna get a lot of them back.

And all I am saying is that Hillary on the ticket increases his chances. Especially in a few of those razor close states.
Obama / Hillary has a better chance that Obama / anyone else. The fact that they can fight like dogs and cats and then present a united front (if done well) should impress some "crowds". Probably enough to swing it moreso in the dems favour. I think Obama will select Hillary as she will help in some of those razor-thin states. Edit to say: Why is that site Sara linked to showing Florida as "Strong GOP"???. I know 2000 they were not that strong. Has it change dthat much that quickly?

I will put a $20 down right now that Hillary will not be veep.
If you take this bet, you should know that as of tomorrow's concession speech I will have earned $200 from Jimmy thanks to a bet made over a year ago as to whether Hillary would be our next President. I'm on a hot streak baby! |

I'd think Obama/Edwards would be a strong front. Well, except in people like a particular friend of mine who is absolutely convinced that Edwards was born
wealthy and inherited some sort of fortune from his parents and therefore isn't qualified to be president. Of course, she also thinks astrology is
"too scientific" and the highway once voted the most dangerous in America is safer than the interstate.

Edwards said yesterday that he wouldn't take VP if it was offered. So that's pretty much out of the question.

Somebody else put much more thought into this
The job of Vice President of the United States is an important one, with powers enshrined in the Constitution rivalling those of Miss Teen Delaware. In addition to speaking to middle schools, tampering with intelligence to start wars and shooting people in the face, a Vice President must be ready to take over as President at any time, and thus shoulder a mantle of responsibility weightier than all the Miss Teen Delaware tiaras in in all of human history combined! Ideally, this won't happen until after the President's second term, which gives the VP 8 years where all he needs to do is look pretty and not get in the way, while collecting an annual salary of $200,000. Ladies and gentlemen, I wouldn't say no.(He cant decide between Ned Beatty & Airwolf) |

I do not think Obama will have Hillary on the ticket, I think she is negotiating for him to pay all her campaign debts Hillary's concession could be Senate
Majority Leader, a cabinet post, but most intriguing of all, a spot on the bench of the Supreme Court. Then Pres could actually change the direction of the
supreme court with three posts in his term.

Mr. T is so short and bitter. He needs someone more upbeat like Maxine Waters.

But Mr. T is a reverend so we've got the religious vote. And all the A-Team fans.

I wish he'd pick Edwards. I know that he said he wouldn't accept it, but that would be a nice ticket. At this point I hope it's not Hillary. It would be such a relief to take away the focus for all the Republican hate. Ten years of demonizing Hillary Clinton and all of a sudden - nothing. The silence would be deafening. |

I like Edwards myself, but I think Edwards is going to hang in and wait 4 more years and prop himself up as the nominee himself, because I do not think Obama
will win, and McCain might not pick a decent VP candidate who could run next 4 years.

Edwards wants to be Atty General and possibly take that slot on the Supreme Court.
