June 1 marks the official start of hurricane season, and you know what that means ... we're all gonna die!

In celebration of our imminent destruction, the Hurricane Landfall Contest is back for Year 2. Here are the knew and improoved rules:

You pick one named storm (tropical storm or hurricane) that you think is going to make US landfall this year. Person who picks the strongest storm that
hits anywhere in the US wins.

Tiebreaker / Bonus question 1 - how many named storms...

Yes, Sara, it's sad but true. Ida lost steam in the Gulf and dropped to 45mph. Who woulda thunk it? The worst damage to come out of this storm was
Stephanie Abrams pulling a jaw muscle from yawning so much.

Just to be sure, I looked through the Weather Underground archives and did find one reference to Claudette making landfall at 49mph. And somebody recorded a
50mph gust for Ida this morning. So if we take those two numbers, you win!

If you mean the tiebreaker between Sara and Verm, I think it would have to go to Sara since Key West is closer via coastline to where the storm will hit than
Charleston is. Then again, this thing could pass over Florida, regroup in the Atlantic and hit Charleston with Cat 5 winds! OK, that ain't gonna happen.
This storm is barely puffing along now at 70mph, so it's no given that it will beat out Mal's formidable 50-mph killer Claudette. And if it does beat
